Vision for 3 years through Young 5’s:
In the midst of folding laundry, coordinating carpool schedules, and breaking up fights, many parents get lost. Feeling pressure to do everything “right” and raise up “good” children, it’s easy to lose sight of our ultimate purpose as parents in the quest for practical tips and guaranteed formulas. While we don’t have magical insight, we have put together some resources we feel can help you partner with us in the discipleship of your little people!
Next Steps:
We believe that we are always growing in our relationship with Jesus, even before we have given our lives to him. We’ve set out guidelines of those next steps for each age range and our curriculum is based around helping the kids in those next steps. We also believe that words are a huge part of a child's development and spiritual growth. We’ve compiled an example of phrases to say to your child according to their age.
3 Years Old:
To talk to big person about what I learned at church (Proverbs 22:6)
To know I can talk to Jesus in prayer (1 John 5:15)
To learn Bible verses (Psalm 119:11)
Words to say to your 3 year old
Let’s try it, Are you scared? Let’s talk to God about it; With God, all things are possible; You’re okay; Please and thank you
4 Years/Young 5:
To know God made everyone and everything (Genesis 1)
To treat others the way I want to be treated (Matthew 7:12)
To praise Jesus in song and dance (Psalm 100)
Words to say to your 4/5 year old
You can do it; Keep trying; Can you help me…?; Jesus wants to be your friend; Please and thank you
Resources for 3 years through Young 5’s:
We have resources available from both our recommendations and here at the church. The Phases books that are recommended for each grade are excellent. If you are interested, please send an email to tony@impact.church and we can get you a book! They are great tools for discipleship.
The way your child is being read to and/or is reading God’s word is extremely important and we’ve found these to be a great starting point in their reading journey:
